Using Native Bundling to Create a “3-Piece Set” Product

If you want to sell a product made up of several items, such as a 3-piece set or sample box, you can use Native Bundling in Infinite Options to create it.

Native Bundling lets you connect multiple items to one main product so they appear together in the cart and order. Each item you connect is still tracked in your inventory, and you can choose whether to include its cost in the total price or charge for each one individually.

For example, you might want to sell a Customize Your Desk Set that includes a notebook, pen, and mug. Each selection is linked to a real product in your store, so when a shopper adds the set to their cart, all of their chosen items appear together and inventory updates automatically.

Getting set up

Create your main product

Create a new Shopify product that represents your offering — for example: "Customize Your Desk Set"

Set the price at what the entire set will cost (for example, $50).

Create add-on products

In the Shopify Products menu, add individual products for each selectable item. Following our Desk Set example, some selections could be:

  • Notebook

  • Pen

  • Mug

Keep these unpublished on your Online Store channel if you don’t want them visible individually. Each item must exist in Shopify and have inventory tracking enabled. Price them at $0 if the total cost is covered by the main product.

Create an Option Set in Infinite Options

In your Infinite Options dashboard, create a new Option Set. Add fields for each selection — for example:

  • Choose Your Notebook

  • Choose Your Pen

  • Choose Your Mug

Use dropdowns, swatches, or radio buttons as the Input Type.

For each option value, click the link icon to connect it to the Shopify product it represents.

For example, under Choose Your Notebook, link options to Red, Blue, and Green notebook products. Repeat for pens and mugs.

Assign your option set to the main product by Tag, Type, URL, or Handle. For this example, we've added a tag (Desk Set) to the main product, so we'll use that to link it to the option set.

Save your changes.

Test on your storefront

Preview the linked product from your option set and test the setup!

Add the main product to your cart after making the selections, and confirm that:

  • The main product and all selected add-ons appear together.

  • Removing the main product also removes the linked add-ons automatically.

Result

Customers can now build their own set while your store tracks inventory accurately. Native Bundling ensures every selection appears as part of the same order with correct linking and product details.

Things to note

  • Add-ons must exist in Shopify, even if hidden.

  • Mark fields as "Required" in the Advanced Options of the option set to ensure customers make all selections.

  • Add item prices in labels if desired (for example, Add Ceramic Mug (+$10)).

  • Keep option names short and clear for readability.
