If you want the same options to appear on multiple products, there is an easier way than assigning them one by one. Adding a product tag groups your products together so Infinite Options can display the same Option Set on all of them.
You add a tag to the Shopify products that need options.
In the Infinite Options app, you create an Option Set and assign it to that tag.
Any product with that tag will display the options you have set.
Products without the tag will not show the options.
This is an easy way to manage options for a large number of products.
Step 1: Open your Shopify products list
From your Shopify admin, click Products.
Select the products that need the same options.
You can:
• Click the checkboxes next to individual products, or
• Click the checkbox next to Product to select all, then uncheck any you want to exclude.
Step 2: Select the products that need options
With your products selected, click the three dots (…) above the list.
Choose Add tags.
Enter a new tag name. You can use something simple, like custom-options or requires-options.
Click Save.
Shopify will confirm that the tag has been added.
Tip: You can also use Shopify filters to narrow the list first, such as filtering by Vendor, Product Type, or an existing tag.
Step 3: Open your Option Set in Infinite Options
Open the Infinite Options app.
Go to Option Sets in the left sidebar.
Create a new Option Set or open one you have already built.
Step 4: Assign your Option Set using the tag
In the assignment section at the top of the Option Set, choose Tag from the rule dropdown.
Enter the exact tag name you added in Shopify.
Infinite Options will show how many products match that tag.
Step 5: Preview the products that will show your options
Click Preview matching products to make sure the right products are included. This helps confirm the tag is applied correctly before saving.
Step 6: Save your changes
Click Save in the top right corner of the app.
All products with the tag you chose will now display the options from this Option Set on their product page
Tooltip placement
You can control where tooltip-style help text appears in relation to an option field.
When help text is set to display as a tooltip, you can choose whether it appears above or below the option. This is useful for improving readability and avoiding layout issues depending on your theme or page spacing.
How to adjust tooltip placement
Open the option you want to edit in your option set.
In the Help Text section, select Tooltip as the display style.
Choose whether the tooltip should appear Above or Below the option field.
Your selection applies immediately and only affects that specific option.
Need to exclude a few products?
If most products should have the options but a few should not, you can follow our guide on excluding products from an assignment.
